Accident Investigation on the death of three (3) local miners

Engr. Jaguit of OSHC REU Caraga joined DOLE Caraga LLCO in the Conduct of Accident Investigation per directive of DOLE Caraga Regional Director on the death of three (3) local miners in Brgy. Ellaperal, Placer, Surigao del Norte.

It was found that most of the local miners where illegal/informal and there was no Safety measures complied. Poor ventilation inside the tunnel/mine site and inhalation of toxic gas was the main cause of death of the 3 local miners. A Cease and Desist Order and Work Stoppage was the immediate action on the fatal accident.

OSHC recommends an Orientation on OSHshall be scheduled for local miners who would then conform to Minahan ng Bayan or avail the DOLE Livelihood Program as an alternative source of income for the local residents.
