Safety Inspection/Building Assessment

Engr. Jaguit of OSHC REU Caraga, in collaboration with Caraga OSHnet Engr. Kalinawan and Engr. Grana conducted Safety Inspection/Building Assessment to DOLE Surigao del Norte Field Office last February 12-13, 2017 in Surigao City affected by the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Surigao City last February 10, 2017. The team proceeded to the site as per DOLE Caraga Memo dated February 11, 2017.

Based on the ocular survey, the OSH Inspection Team has found the DOLE Surigao del Norte Field Office in Yuipco Building, Borromeo St., Surigao City unsafe to reoccupy. The severe cracks found on concrete members of the building is an indication of imminent danger and does not comply to Rule 1060 of OSH Standards. The occupants of the building should stay out and not go back inside the building until the building owners have their structures inspected by structural engineers, retrofitted, rebuilt or reinforced to meet the standards of the building code and the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
