World Day for Safety and Health at Work Celebration

In Celebration of "World Day for Safety and Health at Work", the Occupational Safety and Health Center - Regional Extension Unit 9 (OSHC REU 9) in partnership with Employees' Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit 9 (ECC REU9) conducted a 1-Day OSH Orientation cum ECP Seminar in COSHEMAP Training Center, 2/F QNS Bldg, Tumaga Road, Z.C. Gracing the activity, DOLE 9 Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo, CESO III gave her Opening Message to the representatives from various industries and establishments in attendance. Her message revolved around the importance of starting safety with the basics, that Safety and Health should start at home.

Relevant to this year's theme on "World Day for Safety and Health at Work", Ms. Ma. Joy Reneeli Espinosa, RN, Regional Focal of the OSHC REU 9, emphasized the importance of having a competent and functional Safety & Health Committee to implement and monitor OSH Programs to ensure compliance to OSH reportorial requirements as these are one of the keys in optimizing the collection and use of OSH data.

Collection and use of reliable OSH data are essential in the development of preventive measures, detection of new hazard & emerging risks, identification of hazardous sectors and implementation of policies./mjrce
